South East Midlands Working Well Together

T&W Civil Engineering are now proud members

of a newly formed South East Midlands Working Well Together Group, making that 18 regional groups operating across England, Scotland and Wales.

Working Well Together (WWT) was set up in 1998 by the Construction Industry Advisory Committee with recognised the construction industry itself needed to do more to improve its health and safety performance – particularly among the smaller to medium sized construction businesses. WWT groups provide relevant health and safety messages and information to the construction workforce through a variety of ways.

Ray Carr our Health and safety manager and Laura Knowles our Health and safety Coordinator have put a lot of time and effort into planning the first event for the South East Midlands WWT group along with the other comity members. This week was their first event of many, a Safety and Health Awareness Day (SHAD Event).

During the event a presentation was held by a Principle Inspector for the HSE on Health Risks and they also organised four practical demonstrations , trade stands and a talk from Professor David Fishwick on the effects of Construction dust, all of which are hot topics currently with the HSE.

The next event they will be arranging is a ‘Mock Trial’ in a Crown Court setting, outlining the current fine and sentencing laws for all within the construction industry from the Groundworks up to Managing Director level.
